Anniversary break
We stayed for 2 nights at the Carlton Kinsale to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The room was lovely, the service was excellent. We thought the surroundings were lovely & really enjoyed a stroll down to the waterfront. Although not located in the town, it was very close & with a shuttle bus operating very cheaply from the hotel, Kinsale was very accessible.

Fantastic Weekend

I brought my partner here for a birthday treat and it exceeded our expectations. The room was very comfortable, the staff friendly, awesome views and great food in the restaurant. Would highly recommend to friends and anyone wishing for a relaxing weekend break. Kinsale is a fabulous town.

Beautiful Getaway Spot

Have recently stayed in the hotel and the garden cottages..Both experiences would be highly recommended. If you want to get away from it all and come away feeling relaxed and refreshed this is the place to go. Accommodation, Staff, Food and Spa could not be faulted.

Value Vacation

Having my parents in-law over from Australia we were looking for the ideal weekend away. We got it at the Carlton in Kinsale. Rooms were oh so clean and spacious and the staff couldn't do enough to help us have a decent break. The shuttle service was ideal to enjoy some Irish craic in Kinsale and get dropped back to the hotel. We will definitely return.

Fabulous

This is a fabulous hotel with spectacular views. The rooms were very comfortable. The food was very tasty and the service very good. Was especially impresses with the shuttle bus service in the evening to and from town. Great place for all to stay and recommend the spa to!

Staff Overstretched

I stayed at the Carlton for a business event. The manager was very good at sorting issues out, but it seemed the problems were due to a lack of staff.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent visit with us. I can confirm that we did experience a period in June when we were waiting for seasonal staff to join the team and several departments were a little stretched as we were a lot busier than anticipated for the month. I do hope that this did not detract too much from your stay and would be delighted to welcome you back to the Carlton Hotel Kinsale again. Once again, thank you for your feedback Kind Regards John McGrath General Manager
Perfect week's family holiday without the hassle of airports!

Decided to holiday at home this year and were blessed with good weather. The hotel was fantastic. We really got good value for money. Myself, my pregnant wife and 4 year old daughter each got what we ... were looking for; great food and a really good swimming pool/spa. The accommodation was great (we stayed in the apartments) although the only complaint was the standard of cleaning wasn't 100%. The apartments were pretty clean overall but the attention to detail could have been slightly better (hair on walls in shower, crumbs on floor etc). Don't get me wrong, it wouldn't put me off staying again (I regularly stay in 4/5* hotels world wide and here wasn't that far off the mark). The staff everywhere were great, with the restaurant staff really standing out. They were great with our daughter. The pool facilities were great and we used these daily. We used the Spa and found it good too; prices were high when compared internationally but in line with other Spa's in Ireland. Only comment here would be that the relaxation room was a bit bright and also doubled as a waiting room for those about to receive treatments. A separate, less bright relaxation room for post treatment would really be welcome. Overall we had a wonderful time and have been recommending it to friends and family. (We traveled on a recommendation from friends with a young family). Great time; would stay here again. ---

Great for a group

I recently organised a stay here for a group of 20. From the moment we arrived to when we left, the service was excellent. The management, reception staff and especially the dining room staff were very ... friendly. Our stay was very reasonable with getting bed, breakfast, 4 course dinner & use of the leisure centre for E79. The bedroom was very comfortable & clean, with a wonderful view of the countryside. The dinner menu was very impressive and the meal, lasting over 3 hours, was very tasty. They were very accommodating as we kept on changing our numbers and this was no problem. The leisure club was spotless. I forgot to bring both a towel & swimming cap and they provided me with both. Breakfast was fresh and tasty, even though we did not arrive down until 10.45. I would like to thank the staff of the Carlton for their excellent service and compliment them on a wonderful hotel. ---

Fri night

We enjoyed the beautiful scenery and gorgeously comfy room. Also breakfast was delicious. My main issue was with the food. we opted for the e59 deal that included overnight stay and a 4 course meal. On ... arrival staff were very attentive, however we got a surprise when we found the bottle of wine we had ordered with our meal, in our room. It was also not the bottle we had selected online, and it was a bit strange carrying a bottle of wine into the restaurant with us! The menu in the restaurant read beautifully, but when the food came out it was very disappointing. the trout starter was overcooked and the ham hock was cold and greasy. Also the pesto dressing did nothing to enhance the flavours of the ham. We waited for 40 minutes for our mains to arrive, and when they did, my brill was overcooked and soggy and the steak was tough and done well beyond the medium to well request. I felt like we should have returned it and asked to have it served in a stew it was so tough! The sauce on the brill had begun to congeal as though left under the hotlamp in the kitchen for longer than it should have. Dessert and coffee were nice, as were the vegetables. Also-and it's a small thing perhaps, but one that i don't like having been a waitress myself-our waiter didn't write down our order for our mains, which left us wondering if the order had been received when we were waiting for so long. Also the waiter appeared rushed and under pressure which is why we mumbled 'fine' when asked if everything was ok. The food really let down what was otherwise a lovely stay in a beautiful hotel. The menu suggests that the chefs are extremely inventive, but it was the basics that left down this meal. I think a bistro style restaurant where simple food is cooked well would afford a much better review from me on my return! ---

Thank you for your e-mail and feedback regarding your recent visit with us. I am disappointed to read that you did not enjoy your meal with us. I have discussed your comments with the chef and would like to apologise to you for the poor quality of your meal. The standard of food served in our restaurant is normally extremely high and feed back very positive and as such I am surprised at your experience. I would hope that this experience would not put you off returning to us and would like to offer you a complimentary upgrade on your next visit. Please contact me by return should you wish to book again so that I may personally look after your reservation. Kind Regards John McGrath General Manager
Fabulous Overnight Break Away From The City

The relaxing natural surroundings, beautiful modern rooms, lobby, spa and pool facilities were a welcome treat for my husband and I on a short stay away from the city. We booked with the dinner for two ... and stay free promotion, and with the savings it gave us enough to both get massages at the spa. The food was great, the view was perfect, and the peace and quiet was very much appreciated. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We look forward to another break there and tell everyone what a nice time we had. ---
